Tax the Rich?
There's a lot of political talk right now about how we need to tax the wealthy, the millionaires, and big corporations to help middle and lower-class America. While this sounds justifiable (I mean, they're not using that money anyway, right?), folks it is a recipe for disaster! Consider the following points:
- Will big corporations simply absorb a tax increase? No! The increase will find its way back down to the consumer, meaning even higher prices for us.
- There's already plenty of opportunity for almost everyone in America (including lower and middle classes). Just about anyone with a vision and a little hard work can shift their financial status. Money doesn't (and shouldn't) have to be handed to people on a silver platter when they are capable of working.
- Higher taxation on businesses means fewer jobs.
- Looking at their track record, can I really trust government with more money?
- More taxes means wealthy investors will look outside the country to find better tax rates.
- Why should I be punished by earning more? What motivation is that?
- Sounds a whole lot like Marxism and Communism.
- "...If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat."- 2 Thessalonians 3:10 (ESV)
- "A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent makes rich." - Proverbs 10:4 (ESV)
